1956年1月27日、チューリッヒのドルダー・ホテルで死去し、1月31日に ヘンガーベルグ墓地(Friedhof Hönggerberg)に埋葬されました。

The man of whom this book has been written lies on the Honggerberg, above Zurich. The strong square stone lies among great trees, and on it are cut his name, the years of his birth and death, a phrase from Beethoven's Eighth Symphony which he used, when broadcasting, as a secret signal to his wife and children, and the symbol which, in music, stands for the point at which time as we know it comes to a stop.
